Why CHS? Hear from our inaugural cohort!
Modern life and businesses are inundated with data. Such vast quantities of data - or Big Data - opens up many opportunities to unlock insights from data. In turn, these insights bring new value to improve businesses and human well-being.
This is why CHONG Tze Wyne decided to embark on the Cross-Disciplinary Programme in Data Science and Economics, a new programme under the College of Humanities and Sciences (CHS).
The interdisciplinary element attracted Tze Wyne as it complements the hybrid of science and arts subjects she studied in Junior College.
She says, “By grounding my education in economic fundamentals, and developing an economics-centric analytical and decision-making ability, I truly believe that this course is formidable. At a personal level, having developed an interest in trend analysis, the integration of economics and data science will be intellectually stimulating.”
She is excited to be part of the inaugural DSE cohort, and feels that the programme “marks an exciting start of many firsts.”
The syllabus and curriculum are shaped for relevance and applicability to the challenges facing industries ranging from finance to manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and supply chains.
Tze Wyne adds, “I look forward to the space to pursue and explore my interests, while remaining relevant in the market.”
