Supply chain management in the maritime sector is currently bogged down by paper-based documentation, deliveries coordinated by phone and multiple middlemen.

GotSurge, a one-stop digital logistics platform co-founded by Life Sciences alumnus Mr Shamir RAHIM in 2021 seeks to address this issue. The platform uses real-time marine supply chain data to provide customers and suppliers with end-to-end visibility of all deliveries from a single dashboard.

Shamir hopes to help the sector leapfrog productivity with modern computing tools, which translates to greater efficiencies, reduced costs of up to 30% and an improved customer experience.

GotSurge emerged as the grand prize winner at Smart Port Challenge 2022, an innovation competition, and received the award from Mr CHEE Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transport at the Grand Finals on 18 November.

As an undergraduate, Shamir also read a Minor in Technopreneurship and the multidisciplinary University Scholars Programme (USP)  curriculum, where he took modules on domains ranging from Southeast Asia to computer science among others. He was also an NUS Overseas College (NOC) alumnus where he took modules to hone his entrepreneurship skills.

The sixth edition of the SPC received 146 applications from startups around the world. The winners were selected based on their proposed solution, business model, market potential, impact to the maritime industry and overall team capability.
