Here’s our challenge for you! Put on your interdisciplinary lenses and take a look around you!

Upload your ultimate examples onto Instagram and tell us in the caption how your masterpiece shows off the interdisciplinary around us!

Participate now and stand to win attractive prizes! Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Like our launch post and follow @nus.chs
  2. Upload a photo or video to your public Instagram account that shows a snapshot of your life with a short caption explaining how your subject demonstrates interdisciplinarity between Humanities and Sciences
  3. Tag @nus.chs and add hashtags #InstaInterdisciplinary and #DiscoverCHS

Terms and Conditions

  • The contest is open to all members of the public.
  • Entries must be submitted between 22 Aug 2022 and 22 Sep 2022, 2359 hours. Late submissions will not be considered.
  • Instagram profiles must be public for entry to be valid.
  • All entries submitted must be the participant’s own work.
  • Participants can submit as many entries as they would like, as long as they follow the competition rules.
  • Participants must ensure that all information, photos and images submitted or created in connection with the competition do not infringe on the rights of any party. Please seek permission before taking pictures of people.
  • Digital imaging that distorts the reality of photographs is not allowed. Basic enhancements and effects/filters made available by phone applications are allowed.
  • All participants’ names will be made public.
  • Media must be taken in compliance with national COVID-19 safety guidelines.
  • Submissions must adhere to Instagram’s Community Guidelines.
  • This contest is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Instagram.

Competition Criteria

  • Relevance of media and caption to theme
  • Visual aesthetic of the photo / video
  • Effectiveness of caption explanation on interdisciplinarity

Please note:

  • NUS College of Humanities and Sciences (CHS) reserves the rights to disqualify any entry deemed inappropriate or unsuitable.
  • Judges’ decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entertained.
  • CHS will not be responsible for any damage, expenses, claims and losses incurred during production.
  • CHS reserves the right to amend the Terms and Conditions of the competition without prior notice.

Winners

  • The winners will be announced in the first half of October 2022.
  • Winners will be notified via Instagram direct message. Winners are required to reply to CHS via Instagram direct message for prize collection details. In the event that the selected winner does not respond within five (5) working days, the prize will be forfeited and CHS, at its discretion, may award the prize to another participant.
  • Participants should be based in Singapore so they can receive their prize.
  • For verification purposes, winners will be required to reply with their name, last 4 digits of their NRIC (e.g. 123A), contact number and email.
  • Participants may be asked to submit the higher resolution version of the photo.
  • Prizes cannot be exchanged for money.
  • CHS reserves the right to substitute the original prize with an alternative prize with similar monetary value and/or specifications.

Ownership and Rights

  • CHS reserves the right to use the winners’ names, images and captions for the purpose of any announcement, marketing, or publicity purposes in any media without further approval from the participants and without any fee being paid.
  • By participating in this competition, you consent to CHS’ collection of your personal data for the purpose of the competition and agree that NUS may, for this purpose, collect, use and/or disclose your personal data.
