Connecting the Dots Between Maths and Geography | Edmil Chue

September 10, 2021

You may ask “What is the link between Mathematics, Geosciences and Geographical Information Systems (GIS)?”

For Year 4 Mathematics student, Edmil Chue, his training in the mathematical sciences helps him understand and pick up concepts he learns in GIS, a field he was exposed to by chance while interning at a local horticulture business.

“When I learn GIS, I could take up the concepts a lot better than my peers because some of the concepts they are quite mathematical, quite abstract,” he says.

For someone like Edmil who “loves maths and all things geography related”, interdisciplinary education has allowed him the option to integrate both interests, opening him up to a world of endless possibilities.
