Pharmacy So Much More Than You Imagined: Extraordinary Pharmacists For Extraordinary Times

LT31

Assoc Prof Chui Wai Keung will explain how our guest speakers, through innovation and practice in both direct and indirect patient care settings, exemplify our theme - Pharmacy So Much More Than You Imagined.

The initial months of COVID-19 were fraught with uncertainties and dangers, but KTPH staff demonstrated extraordinary courage by stepping forth to serve suspected and positive COVID-19 cases in healthcare institutions, dormitories and Community Care Facilities. As the Accident & Emergency (A&E) pharmacist in charge, Mr Ryan Loh will share how he was involved in planning the A&E response to the pandemic, as well as the wider and evolving role of pharmacists in patient care.

Ms Priscilla Chua will share how she and her team at Integrated Health Information Systems (IHiS) supported the iterative development and deployment of technological solutions for Singapore's COVID-19 vaccination programme. Her role included adapting the solution to changes in prevailing vaccination policies, reviewing healthcare providers' operations and processes, as well as providing onsite technology assistance to staff. She will also discuss how she implemented the Singapore Drug Dictionary as standardised vaccination codes across all required technological systems for data exchange.

Team-based active learning is the signature of the BPharm (Hons) programme but what does this mean and how can it prepare you to be leaders such as Mr Ryan Loh and Ms Priscilla Chua? Prof Paul Gallagher provides an overview of the BPharm (Hons) programme and explains why you can look forward to a rewarding and enjoyable learning experience at NUS!
